Loop Mobile seeks speedy migration of subscribers to Airtel, citing shortage of time
Loop Mobile is looking forward to speedily migrate its subscribers to Bharti Airtel due to the lack of time as its licence for the Mumbai circle expires in November 2014. According to the acquisition deal between Airtel and Loop, the former has to take over Loop’s subscribers and 25,000 cell sites. But due to scarcity of time, Loop has offered to limit the agreement to just a transfer of its subscribers leaving aside the telecom infrastructure, which is awaiting regulatory approvals.
Earlier, the operator had sought approvals to transfer both passive and active infrastructure.
For a smoother migration of its subscribers to Airtel, Loop has provided them with the same tariffs and schemes as they were using Loop. Also, the customers have an option to port out to an operator of their choice.
The company has about 3.2 million subscribers in the Mumbai circle and intends to transfer all its customers to Airtel.
Earlier, The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has disallowed the transfer of subscribers to Airtel and asked Loop to issue a notice to its subscribers to shift to an operator of their choice after the closure of service.
